There were lots of ‘Praise my Lord!’ at Pastor Peter’s church recently when news came through that the congregation had banded together to buy the much loved Pastor his first private Jet.

Pastor Peter commented,

I Praise my Lord and thank the generous folks for this new Jet. It is an affirmation of what God has called me to do, to preach the Good News of God’s provision to the poor of the world.

Funding for the completion of a new local soup kitchen was put on hold to fund the Jet, but as Elder John commented, ‘the poor people in Africa are very important to us, they don’t get government handouts.’

Pastor Peter’s first mission crusade is this July where he will be spending 3 days in Malawi, Kenya and Sudan, mostly speaking at people about how God can provide for those who really want it. His message is titled, ‘Jesus is your banker: time to withdraw’ which is available for a fee at: www.pastorpeter1.com Following the crusade visit he and his wife will be recuperating in the Bahamas for a couple of weeks.

  1. Where to start. So much could be said about this article, but I guess it really just speaks for itself. People who’s hearts are probably in the right place, but who need to take a good long look at themselves. Although presented like this it all seems absurd, I can see how you end up there. A local church in the city I live in has their own tv show, so that they can reach more people, but I have to think that if they put the money it costs to pay for the show local projects for the poor they would reach people by word of mouth. People who probably needed to be reached more than your average couch potato.

I can see how a jet to help you reach more people could seem like a good idea, but where are the people around them who question these decisions. Where are their prophets? (people who can speak truth to people in power) I guess this is why we’re supposed to be in community, so that the other members of our community can be a reality check for us.

  2. Paul, with respect you’re missing the point here. This is a spoof, a bit like “On The Hour” and “The Day Today”. The reference to the Bahamas surely gives it away.

  3. Steve, I assumed Paul was being ironic in his reply – surely a quick glance through the site would have given it away… no? Oh. 🙂
